Heartworks has Closed

September 29, 2007

Between investors pulling out, coolers breaking and a general lack of business – Elaine Wheeler, Heartworks owner, has called it quits today.  A sad day indeed.

Our store opening was a way for Heartworks to reopen over a year ago.  After Elaine found more suitable partners, Inertia was asked to leave – which worked out great for us, and I thought would be great for Heartworks.  But, rather quickly, the new investors weren’t working out for one reason or another – and here we are with even more limited options for Jacksonville’s vegetarians and vegans.

  1. This is indeed a sad day. Now we have…umm…nothing in terms of 100% veg restaurants.

  2. People should really do some research before making false statements. Karen and George Lovenguth have purchased Heartworks and after some remodeling will be open for business and will enhance the vegetarian menu and organic coffee for all to enjoy. Thank you, George Lovenguth – October 3rd, 2007

  3. George, at the time Elaine said she is closing for good. Best of luck!

  4. Weird, yeah, I heard conflicting stories as well…but I can’t wait for the new place. !!!

  5. UPDATE! MY WIFE AND I PURCHASED HEARTWORKS CAFE AND HAVE BEEN CLEANING UP ALL THE VIOLATIONS THAT EXISTED AND WILL BE OPENING ONCE THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH APPROVES OUR SETTING. FORMER OWNER LEFT QUITE A MESS. WE ARE CLEANING THAT MESS UP AND WHEN WE OPEN PLEASE COME VISIT AND ENJOY OUR CLEAN ENVIRONMENT WHICH WILL BE SERVING A VEGETARIAN CUISINE. HOPE TO SEE YOU. GEORGE
